Everyone get ready for Meredith College's annual Dr. Thomas Grissom to speak Dr. Thomas Grissom, black minister of Salem United Methodist (^urch in Harlem, will t>e Meredith's guest minis ter for Black Emphasis Week 1984. A dynamic speaker. Dr. Grissom draws a congregation of over 4000 people every Sun day. Dr. Grissom h^ earned degrees from Clark College, Gammon Theological Seminary, and Interdenomina tional Theological Center. He eamed a Doctor of Divinity de gree from Houston-Tiliotson College In Austin, Texas, and studied further at Columbia University and the University of London. Dr. Grissom is widefy traveled and is a leader in civic and church activities nationally. He was a personal friend of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and has been active in the black move ment as well as in youth activi ties in the United States. In recognition of Black Emphasis We^, Dr. Grissom will speak at a special worship sen/ice on February 15 at 10:00 A.M. in Jones Chapel. Everyone is invited to come hear this dynamic speaker and to meet him at a reception following the sen/ice. The candlelight ceremony was held at 5:30 p.m. at the Alumnae^ House. Seven new members were tapped In.
