FEBRUARY ^1, 1964 THE TAAG PAGES MUSIC! by Lia Braganza entertainment reporter If “Ordinary ThinKing” (G^ineric Re cords) is any indication of what college and dub crowds can expect from Rich mond's Ten Ten, then it looks like the ne>ct few years will be more than enjoy able. It doesn’t matter whether you like to see a baid because you enjoy listening to them or dancing or just enjoy v\Qt- hing them, because Ten Ten/has got it all; tally everything you cou^ hope for when going out and getting away from it ail. Ten Ten is composed of four Vir ginians, who after successful careers in separate bands, formed their own success story. Bassist Peter Beil for merly of the Rage created Ten Ten with drummer Lee Jc^nson of Errol Rynn in the summer of 1983. They were joined by. X-Dad Mark Lewis (lead vocals-guitai) and more recently Don Ruzek (key- boards-guitar-vocals) of Raleigh's Glass- moon. After a year of initiating its name into the dub and college circuits, Ten Ten has released an impressive debut altxim. “Ordinary Thinking,” though it is composed of tunes ttased on the t>est sounds of tody's progressive rock movement, is diverse from selection tO' selection. Next comes the no limit contenders. (NLQPIanning is r>ecessary for these spedal type of road trippers. Anywhere from a few days to a few weeks is neces sary, depending on schod, work or de gree of spontaneity. The NLC takes various trips to places like Myrtle Beach, Wintergreen, Wilmington, Columbia or Atlanta “Car sickness” is not In their vo- catxjiary. ‘ Despite the slight differences be tween the two types, there are two lists that both have in common. The top con tenders for worst fears of the roadtripper include 1) having the “wrong" people find out and, 2) viewing that blue light in the rear view. TTie list of essentials is also com parative. Theseessentials include: l)tf>e infamous Exxon card - or equivalent “gas mone/'; 2) money needed for expendi tures; 3) munchies and/or lk]uid refresh- nient; and, 4) a toothbrush. Firmly, a word to the more cautious and conservative who t»ve never “road- tripped” before - Go for it! You might f^ave fun. And rememtter to drive care fully.
