Chapel Commons Room Pastures and Pits Need to be Turned Into Pavement by Beth Blankenship Co-editor \ krtow you must have discussed the packing situation with your n>ommates one hundred times, but they are power less to do anything about tlw problem. I too am fed up with this situation. Ivlere- dith, wf>ere is your common sense? Certainly not in tf>e parking area. If there is one thing I know, it's that Meredith cannot use the open land sur rounding the physical buildings and areas such as ttie lake. Furtf>ermore, I agree that having cars along the en trance does take away fn^m the beauty of the front drive and the surrounding area. However, I see nothir>g wrong with putting parking areas behind Meredith where it is virtually non- visible to visitors. I say this vnth a sel fish thought in mind. I'm sick and tired of having to park in not the first bottom PIT parking lot but the one behirxl that. Seniors, help me out on this argu ment. Don't you think we've eamed the right to park as dose to our donns as possible? I say Meredith shoukJ pave the PITforsophomores and freshmen. I would even be willing to pay a little ex tra next year for parking stickers to help finarKe some of tlie paving. Of course additional parking space would leave little temptation for stu dents to park in restricted areas. And wf^t would Security do tfien? Well, this coukl save on gasoline for the cars which make “umpteen” rounds seeking out illegally parked cars. An additional expense of parking ttekets would also be eliminated. The cost of paper does go up every year, you know. I think having a car on campus should t>e a right, rx>t a privilege. And as such, adequate facilities should be provided. You as students can get these facilities if you'd only voice your opinion. Draw up a technical report with diagrams and solutions. Thir>k of ways to raise funds for the paving cost. Stu dents at two Michigan State U. resi dence halls believe in them because they live with them. MSU's Holmes Hall is said to be haunted by two specters. A number of sixth-floor residents at Holmes claim to have seen the ghost of a student who had lived on the sixth floor and com mitted suicide in 1980. .solutkms.
