USA Today Announces
Search for America's Best
Students
USA TODAY has begun its search
for the USA’s best college students
to be named to its ALL-USA Aca
demic Team,
Students selected to the first, sec
ond and third teams will be featured
in a USA TODAY special section
planned for mid-January. The 20
first-team members will be invited
to receive their awards at a cere
mony in Washington, D.C.
Any full-time undergraduate is
eligible for consideration.
All-USA Academic Team Nomi
nation Forms have been sent to deans
at colleges and universities nation
wide. And students may nominate
themselves by completing the nomi
nation form and having a dean sign
it. Students may also submit with
the form up to three letters of recom
mendation from persons on or off
campus.
Nominees will be judged for out
standing individual academic en
deavor; community/campus activi
ties and leadership roles therein;
awards, honors and demonstrations
of initiative; and grade point aver
age.
Criteria for the team were devel
oped in consultation with USA
TODAY’S co-sponsors: the Na
tional Association of Independent
Colleges and Universities, the Na
tional Association of State Univer
sities and Land-Grant Colleges, the
American Association of Colleges
for Teacher Education and the
Council for the Advancement and
Support of Education.

approves all major capital construc
tion projects. Gifts from individuals
and corporations fund all construc
tion. In fact, the Office of Institu
tional Advancement must determine
first if Meredith can raise the money
needed.
Meredith’s Master Plan is pro
gressing from the SchematicPhase
of identifying perspective and needs
to the Design and Development
Phase where these ideas are solidi
fied. According to Mr. Charles
Taylor in the Office of Business and
Finance, all details are subject to
change. Meredith’s Master Plan is a
“long-term” effort in keq>ing up with
Meredith’s growth.
