upcoming events "Man of La Mancha" Information On October 26-28 at 8 p.m. and on October 29 at 3 p.m. Meredith will continue its production of "Man of La Mancha." Jerry Longe, an Equity actor, will perform with community and student actors in this musical play by Dale Wasser- man which is based on the much loved story by Cervantes. The noble hero Don Quixotr fights off the harsh realities of the Spanish Inquisition and hangs on to chivlary and hope by following "The Impossible Dream." Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. All Meredith students are encour aged to attend. MEA Mixer On Hiursday, Oct 26 from 9 p.m.- 12 a.m.j MEA will host Nightmare on Hillsborough Street II: Return of the Pack. The Phase Band will per form at-this Halloween mixer with Biagaw, Owen, Tucker and Univer sity Towers. Admission is $1, and the event will be held in Weather- spoon. Wear a costume (though not required) and prepare to experience the sequel to last year’s excitement. Cornhuskin' Week Plans and Sched ule Announced by: Christy Thomas MRA Historian Once again, Cornhuskin’ will take place on the first Thursday in November. This year, November 2 is the big day. M^ co-chairs, Kitty Pate and Samantha Gunter, are re ally excited about this year’s com petition. The co-chairs for each class are as follows: Freshmen class: Mandy Dill and Jill Barlow Sophmore class: Martha En- score and Mary Snow Burnette Junior class: Lesha Letterman and Beth Ragsdale Senior class: Catherine Martin and Kelly Zwicknagel The week will start with the Big Sis/Little Sis Bonfire on the softball field, Sunday, November 29 at 10 p.m. TTiis is a fiin time spent singing songs and roasting marshmellows around a bonfire. The Cornhuskin’ competition follows a picnic in the courtyard and consists of a parade, a song, a tall tale, and a hog-calling skit, all of which are related to the themes of each class. The classes are also judged on apple-bobbing and corn-shucking during the picnic prior to Cornhuskin’. Classes will also be judged on class attendance during the Cornhuskin’ week and on the design of class sweatshirts and how well they relate to the theme. For more information on Corn- huskin’, talk with your class co chairs. They are there to make sure you know what Cornhuskin* is all about Remember, Cornhuskin’ is a time of class competition, but it’s also a time of class unity, friend ships, and a lot of laughter and fiin! Don't forget! Class participa tion is judged also, so mark your cal endars and go to your practices.
