Rebecca Huffstetler of Mount Holly, NC, will be next year’s Senior Gass President. Huffstetler said ber interest in Meredith College can be traced as far back as tbe eighth grade, who¥ sbe picked Meredith to research for a project on colleges because she ‘'liked the name." "Tbe more I found out about (Meredith), tbe more I found out it suited my needs. Meredith really pre pares you for tbe future,” Huffst^er said. As f(v tbe senior class' future, Huffstetler plans to help her class “go out wilb a bang,” and enjoy its last months at Meredith. Immediately af ter ^adnatioo, HuH’stetla may pursue a master’s degree, but whether she cboosestooTDoi, she will“teachmiddle sdiool, DO matter wbat.” Huffstetler’s years before East Gaston High School included a brief affection for the New Kids On The Block, involving the purchase of thdr ture. “Junior year is a big year—get ting our lings and all. I want to get a lot of people involved with Comhuskin', tbe ring dimier. I thinlc as we get closer aod chose Meredith to achieve her goals because of its size, and because she diought “an all-womao environ ment would be fun.” Hudson notes RoMCca Hiifetetltf Class of 1998 Gingo'Hudson Class of 1999 Alisc»i Flood first and second albums. Thejunior class will be led tlirough the year by Richmond, Virginia’sGin- ger Hudson. Hudson was exception ally enthusiastic about her class’ fu to tbe end. we’ll get more excited and involved,” she said. Hudson, a child devebpment major, plans to get certi fied to kindergarten through sixth grade. “Hove children,” sheexplaioed, sbe’s “never beard a bad thing” about Meredith, and that only encouraged her selection. Wben sbe's not leading her class to great things, Hudson may be found playing lacrosse for N.C. State’s club team—no easy feat. Less easy is believing Hudson also listened to New Kids On Tbe Block in middle school, and even went to an NKOTB concert with her dad, who “had to sit through all three hours of it” Alison Flood of Havelock, NC, will retain her position as her class president as it progresses to sopho more. Flood hopes, “for this year as for last year,” to “continue unity and pride in the Meredith community.” Flood “enjoys hearing concerns and being involved,” and plans to continue running for office to keep working for Meredith and her class. She picked Meredith because it is “a smaller school,” with a lower scudent-teacber ratio. “Meredith has a great name, and is known as a good school throughout North Carolina,” Rood said. She laid no claim to the New Kids, but men tioned she listens to Irish musical ge nii The Pogues, which, as Flood said, “may not be embarrassing, but people look at me funoy when I say it” Lir Friends Weekend promises fun for students and guests Lauren Rattican Staff Reporter Have plans March 21-23?
