News and Notes from Pine Knoll Shores

Let's face it -- Pine Knoll Shores is coming of age. The
beautiful lots are almost all sold to beautiful people. There
are more than 100 families living, playing, gardening, boating,
enjoying each other in the area, and soon the guardian wing of
the Roosevelts will be lifted in order that we can have an op
portunity to try our own wings.
So -- how about a Pine Knoll Shores Newsletter (you send name
ideas to the "editors" who confess below to putting this first crea
tion together), something functional, spreading tidbits around the
shores, giving residents and non-residents a chance to fill us all
in on what's happening to them, how they feel about life down here,
and just generally bringing the whole group together through the
old standby medium, the press.
Remember the PKS book you got when you first began dreaming
about slipping away from wherever it was you used to run in the rat
race? The description of the community? The picture of the sunset
over sound and sea? Couldn't you just hug yourself with pride to
think that you absorbed that book, made your way down here, and stayed?
(Or, if you are still a non-resident, aren't you, at this moment, wanting
to page through that book again, or better yet, pack up and come now?)
True, at first this was only a dream land. But now our dreamland
has people, and some of us don't even know each other. If this were
New York, we'd shrug away the "getting to know you" stuff. But this
is Pine Knoll Shores; many of us have more leisure than we've known
before. Some of us are from faraway places where we didn't have sea
fishing or clamming, and we need help from our neighbors so that we
can learn to be big sea folks. Others of us have to figure out how
to keep our boats from running aground. We simply need each other,
kind of the way the pioneers did way back when they settled new ter
ritories. We need to share knowledge and ideas, and we need just to
talk to each other sometimes.
Let's talk through the newsletter. Send us your comments about
Pine Knoll Shores living -- your gardening tips, your new found sea
food recipes, your points of joy in our place and way of life, your
suggestions of projects which might further enhance our community.
Let's hear from you as we grow up together in Pine Knoll Shores.

The Si Bezuyens, the Milt Yaecks, the J. Millers, the George
Griffiths, the Roy Vorises. The Griffiths and the Yaecks have been
here as renters while their houses are going up. Have you met them
already? Watch for all these people and greet them!
