Post July 4 Beach Cleanup. A large group of volunteers of all ages
came out on July 9 to clean up our beaches after the busy July 4
holiday. This annual event, co-sponsored by the Pine Knoll Shores
Parks and Recreation Committee and the NC Aquarium at Pine
Knoll Shores, plays an important part in keeping our beaches a safe
and clean place to visit. Thanks to all who came out to help.

Reflective Address Signs
Available in Pine Knoll Shores
By David Gildner
Pine Knoll Shores Fire Auxiliary
When you call 911 in an emergency, you want the fastest response possible from
our Police, Fire and EMS departments. While emergency personnel in Pine Knoll
Shores are very familiar with the streets and businesses in Pine Knoll Shores, they
cant always be sure which home goes with each house number. For this reason, the
town has an ordinance, shown here in part, to support first responders and ensure
that they can find the intended destination as quickly as possible.
Chapter 10-BUILDINGS AND BUILDING REGULATIONS
Sec. 10-5-House numbers; numerical street addresses
(a)... If a post, unattached to a mailbox, is utilized for displaying the
address number, it shall be installed between six and ten feet from
the street pavement and shall be located in such a fashion as to give
emergency service personnel an easy view of the number from the
street.... The address number(s) shall be at least three inches in height.
Numerals shall be of contrasting color to the background and reflective
numbers are recommended....
