Happenings for September
Closing. The library will be closed on Monday, September 3, for Labor Day.
Book exchange and sale. Stop by the paperback Book Exchange and trade for a free
paperback book to read by the sea. The Book Nook is open Monday through Saturday
from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with lots of used books for sale.
Silent auction. Be sure to check out the ongoing silent auction; new items are added
frequently.
Activities for children. Preschool Storytime for ages 3-5 is held each Thursday at
10 a.m. with Ms. Brita.

• Thursday, September 13, will be “Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear”
• Thursday, September 20, will be “I Saw a Chicken!.”
• Thursday, September 27, will be “Fall Most of All.”
Featured artwork. Throughout the month of September, the art gallery will display
a collection of posters from previous NC Seafood Festivals. Also, the original painting
of the winning poster design for 20i S by Deb Covington will be on display during the
month.
The showcase will feature a D collage assembled by professional craftsman Don
Collins, who specializes in be iding and shaping wood. Flis career includes many years
of detailed carpentry in the yacht business as well as custom cabinetry. This original
piece was created over a period of years as a challenge and to show the passion he has
in his work.
No reception is planned for September.
