The Country Club of the Crystal Coast ...where friends connect The COUNTRY CLUB of the CRYSTAL COAST ...where friends ctmnecr By John Ferguson As I drive or walk through our Pine Knoll Shores neighborhoods, even after a month, I see some of the devastation that Hurricane Florence left in its wake. Although many trees fell during and after the storm, it is the insulation, furniture, and other household trash that is of most concern because it indicates a significant disruption of living space. I hope that those with this sort of damage are on the mend. Some of us were very lucky and others were not, but the town’s response to the storm has made the recovery effort much easier to deal with. Can you imagine trying to accomplish the restoration without the town employees and volunteers? I cannot. They not only ensured our safety initially by cleaning up the roadways as best they could so that access to most of our homes was possible, but they have coordinated, very quickly, the response from the disaster relief entities. Finally, throughout the process they have kept us informed via the communication network. I applaud the mayor, town manager, and all of the town employees and volunteers for their efforts, even though many had their own issues with which to deal. Florence did not spare The Country Club of the Crystal Coast. We had significant damage to the club house, golf course and other buildings. But like our town employees who have worked so hard at getting us back into our neighborhoods and homes, the club employees have also done an amazing job in getting the facility back to where we can function. Within days of the storm, our tennis center was up and running with people playing tennis. Our restaurant and event staff ensured that the facilities were cleaned and available for a wedding rehearsal within two weeks. Our golf course staff and volunteers worked long, arduous hours to get the first nine holes open and are looking forward to the second nine holes opening soon. I will say that the fairways and greens look fantastic. Our hope is that we will have all of the work done on the clubhouse sometime in December. This is an aggressive schedule, but we are working diligently to meet this time frame. I feel so privileged to say I live, work and play in a location where the people take pride in their work and know how to provide uncompromised service to our town and the facilities within it. Thanks again to each of the town employees, the employees of the cluh, and the volunteers who have worked long hours to assist in getting our whole town back on its feet. 18 HOLE CHAMPiONSHiF GOiF & SOCCER GOLF COURSE 4-CLAY LiGrTED TENNIS COURTS ' SWIMMING POOL RES"URA?iT; BAa&GatlLE WEDDINGS ■ BANQUETS : PARTIES 252-726-1034 (ext. #12) | crystalcoastcc.com 152 Oakleaf Drive i Pine Knoll Shores | NC | 28512 WILLIAMS HARDWARE at Morehead Plaza • WINDOW & SCREEN REPAIR • POWER TOOLS & EQUIPMENT • LAWN & GARDEN SUPPLIES • CHAINS & FASTENERS • PLUMBERS S ELECTRICAL • SHARPENING SERVICE Gerber, Buck & Case Knives • Keys Glass Cut to Size • We Cut Thread Pipe 252-726-7158 10 The Shoreline I November 2018
