The Country Club
of the Crystal Coast
...where friends connect
By John Ferguson
I hope all have heard that The Country Club of the Crystal Coast is open for
business. All 18 holes of the golf course opened at the end of October, and it is
going strong now. The greens and fairways are in good shape, so all of you golfers
should come out and give it a try. As always, it is a challenge, but very enjoyable to
Now is the time to consider joining the club and playing golf so you can be
part of the fun. A couple of examples of activities will illustrate just how much
fun we have. The Ladies Golf Association held a scramble on November 1, which
turned out to be a wonderful event. The entire club staff wasinvolved by not only
getting the event up and running, but also serving a fantastic meal after golf. On
November 12, a two-person best ball tournament was held. To add to the fun,
partners were determined by a blind draw after the completion of the round. Not
knowing who your partner is adds to the challenge. Under our new management
structure, we can all expect that we will have more of these exciting events, as well
as see continual improvement on the course.
The clubhouse is also open for business on a limited basis, as we still have
repairs from Hurricanes Florence and Michael to complete. However, the staff
has done a phenomenal job in hosting weddings, events and dinners within just
a couple of weeks of the storms. We continue to have burger night each Friday
and birthday night each month. We have also hosted a luncheon in celebration of
the Marine Corps. Our restaurant and events manager and our chef have come
up with a phenomenal menu. I have not heard anyone say anything other than
their meal was great. It is such a pleasure to work with managers and employees
who are able to take the initiative in finding ways to get
things done and make the organization run smoothly,
even though the storms tried to stop them.
The tennis center is undergoing renovations and
upgrades as well, but the tennis courts have been up
and running for quite some time, thanks to our tennis
manager and volunteers. Recently, the tennis association
within the club hosted a tennis and pickleball social
event that was extremely well attended and was
enjoyed by all. Anyone interested in tennis within our
community and those visiting should come and play.
Better yet, join the club and enjoy the different levels
of play that are available. Our tennis pro can make sure
that you are matched up with players of your caliber so
that there is maximum enjoyment by all.
The Country Club of the Crystal Coast is an integral
part of Pine Knoll Shores and the surrounding area. It is
a great place to be with friends and take part in events
such as those described above. I know you will enjoy it.
Several Pine Knoll Shores residents and friends traveled by Amtrak to enjoy the US Open
Tennis Championships in New York City. Broadway plays, fine food and lots of tennis were
enjoyed by all.
Marines from Pine Knoll Shores celebrated the 243rd birthday of the Marine Corps with a
luncheon at The Country Club of the Crystal Coast on Saturday, November 10.
