May 2021 K4TW Events By Jean McDanal KAYAK for the f \WARRI0RS Pine Kno(( Shored) VC Second Annual K4TW Golf Tournament—Slots for the Kayak for the Warrior (K4TW) golf tournament on Friday, May 21, are filling up fast. The last day to register is May 15, but it may close out sooner. Registration forms can be found in the foyer at town hall, in the Crystal Coast Country Club golf shop, or online on by visiting our website at k4tw.org, clicking on Events and then choos ing Golf Tournament. Registration is $75 per golfer, which includes a goody bag, 18 holes, golf cart and lunch. Prizes will be given for first and second place, closest to the pin and longest drive. There will be lots of fun holes. If you would like to sponsor a hole, please send your $100 check, payable to Kayak for the Warriors, to Kathy Blowers, 201 Oakleaf Drive, Pine Knoll Shores 28512, along with camera- ready artwork if you want your business name on the sign, or just tell us what to place on it. Tipsy Turtle Kick-Off Event —Come out to Tipsy Turtle on the Atlantic Beach Causeway the night before the tournament, Thursday, May 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. for music and free food to kick off our K4TW events. Thanks to owner John Thompson for offering to do this for us. Our very own Devan Barbour and Bob Blowers will be spinning the tunes. Kayak/Paddleboard Race—Our signature event, the Kayak/Paddleboard Race, will go off on Saturday, June 5, at 10 a.m. at Garner Park, followed by a barbecue lunch and medal ceremony. The drawing for the Wine & Dine Basket will take place here, too. To register online, go to runtheeast.com and search for Kayak for the Warriors. Registration deadline is June 3, and the cost is $50 for a single paddler and $100 for tandem, which includes a t-shirt and lunch. The race will be electronically timed. The Warrior Trophy will be awarded to the paddler or paddler team that brings in the most donations.
