OUR NEV/ Eleanor and George Hardman moved into their new home at 120 Hawtliome Drive on March 20 from Charleston, \>N* NEIGHDOHS George had been Supervisor of Real Estate Appraisers for the West Virginia State Tax Department. Eleanor worked for the V/est Virginia Library Commission as a clerk and typist. Both are ardent fishermen. They moved here so that they could enjoy their favorite sport. George said, ’’Elecinor was the best cook and candy maker in West Virginia.” They had been coming to Emerald Isle for about 10 years. They never heard of Pine Knoll Shores until they read stories about it in the Carteret News-Times. They decided to investigate, liked it, bought a lot and built a house. A daughter lives in Mt. Pooono, Pennsylvania. Another daughter and son live in Columbus, OH. They have nine grand children from three to 21 years of age. Betty and Bud Britton came from Fairport, NY, a suburb of Rochester, to 2^9 Oakleaf Drive. He had been Director of Technical Development for Phaudler Division of Sybron, a comglomerate which manufactures chemical processing equipment. Betty had worked as a volunteer with telephone counseling and poison control of Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Bud is interested in fishing and both play tennis. Betty also gardens and writes. They found Pine Knoll Shores when they were looking all up and down the east coast for a place to retire. They had been neighbors of Ann and George Hitch. Also daughters of both families had been friends. The Brittons have a son living in Philadelphia area and is with Eastman Kodak. Two daughters live in Connecticut and one in Vermont. They have eight grand children-Olga Hedrick YOU CAi^ JOIN Thirty three member families have been enjoying 17 kinds of excellent cheese and 57 varieties of other PKS CO-OP foods through the CO-OP. We are still learning about the many fine flours, grains, oils, honey, beans, dried fruits, nuts, real fruit juices, herbs, spices, teas, etc., available. Any resident of Pine Knoll Shores is eligible for membership, which involves chiefly a willingness to cooperate, plus a one-time fee of $5. Come to the Town Hall on Wednesday, May 20 at 2:30 p.m., to organize for the next order and compare notes. Bring with you any suggestions you may have.
