Commissioner Johnson reported the Rescue Squad had elected officers for the
coming year: Harry Schlimper i-zas elected chief and Bob Ames v/as elected assistant
Chief.
The Board also took note of the fact that there presently are 17 single family
residences \inder construction in Pine Knoll Shores along viith three condominium units.
Finally, a committee was appointed to study the feasibility of the town purchasing
the water company. The committee includes Aubrey Johnson, Bill Dixson, Ed Crumley,
Prank Johnnson and Gil Mllington.
PK ASSOCIATION Members of the Pine Knoll Association held their annual meeting
Saturday, June 12, at the Bogue Banks Country Club. Elected as
NAMES DIRECTORS directors for three year terms were Alfred Wolfe, Joan Libby and
Kenneth Haller; for a two-year term, Hayes McCulley. The audit
ing committee for the next year was Eric Hassel, chairman, and l^ed Korff and William
Macdonald.
Following the regular membership meeting the Board of Directors met and elected
Bill Bosse as president and Ken Haller as vice president.
GARDEN CLUB The Pine IGioll Shores Garden Club held its annual year-end luncheon
meeting at the Rex Restaurant on V/ednesday, June 9 and installed
ENDS SEASON officers for the next season. Officers for next year are Louise
Jolitz, president; Irene Doremus, vice president; Lenora Roberson,
second vice president; Betty Hickey, recording secretary; Shirley Hargroves, cor
responding secretary, and Gussie Peters, treasurer.
Installing officer was Faye Newby, of Newport, and third vice president of
North Carolina Garden Clubs, Inc. Other guests included Elizabeth Ames, honorary
life president of the club, and Joan Greene staff writer for the Carteret News
Times. New members Alice Jean Noble and Jean Zumbach were welcomed into the club.
During the business meeting outgoing President Martha Hare announced plans for
a plant propagation workshop to be conducted by Newell Haller at her home on Walnut
Circle on June l6. The members also voted to sponsor an "Adopt and Garden” of aucuba
at Carteret General Hospital. This is a program of 11 separate gardens to enhance

BOGUS BANKS LIBRARY The Bogue Banks Library Storytime program, held at the Marine
Resources Center, will continue during the month of July,
STORYTIME CONTINUES with several special events also scheduled.
Saturday, July 3» the Center will present "A Walk In the Forest” using time-lapse
photography; July 10, Roy Grant, ranger at Cape Lookout National Seashore, will offer
a program on Snakes with a film; on Monday, July 12 Joab, the frog and mascot of the
Summer reading game, will be present in person, and a film, "Fantasy of Feet".
