The group obviously enjoys its bowling and its social activities, but just as
obviously, the key words describing their association are "fun** and "friendship".

Have you been through any of the new developments in PKS? If not, you really
should go. It is a pleasure to see them, they are very interesting, and novel to the
point that one has difficulty believing this is happening in our Town!
Drive through the ar^a by McGinnis Point, entering from Ramsey Drive just beyond
the Town Hall, Nothing has as yet been built, but the potential for gracious living is
apparent. The tree lined road winds past little and not-so-little ponds and lakes and
by the Sound, The marine forest throughout is lush and full of promise for birds and
year-round greenery. The whole area is very much larger than you might suppose and
could accomodate many homes,
v-TNTft While you are looking, see Maritime Place on Salter Path Road between the
Iron Steamer pier and the Ramada Inn, A private road runs the length of
OF LIVING the development parallel to Salter Path, with dense growth separating the
^ two and insuring privacy from the State highway. The development contains
some 40 ocean lots served by the private road and it would seem from the
markers in place that more than half of them have been sold, A number of
pressive homes, perhaps six, have already been built. The area offers beautiful and
ecluded living space beside the sea. Its 3 entrances can be closed if need so dictates.
This area was for a long time held by the Roosevelts for their own use. That
family (Cornelius Roosevelt, Theodore Roosevelt III, Grace Roosevelt McMillan and Francis
Webb Roosevelt, widow of Quentin) had received the land from their aunt, Mrs, Hoffman,
who lived at the site of the present Seago home on Oakleaf Drive, They had anticipated
dividing the area that is now Maritime Place into four parts for themselves and it is
told that, on one of their family vacations in PKS, they drew straws to see which family
member would receive which quarter.
Finally, on your tour be sure to look in at Genesis (also on Salter Path) which
has model condominivuas open for inspection. They cO:« really beautifully done and
beautifully decorated. Many items can suit the buyer’s preference as, for example, the
wood work may be light or dark, the carpeting of one color or another, etc. Utilities
are installed with such niceties as a range oven which, by shifting a knob, converts to
microwave. There will be some 8 buildings (only one is as yet finished), each with 12
condominiums. Some will require numerous steps, but single floor units are also avail
able, In the units facing the ocean, the view is simply spectacular.
The developmaits mentioned above do not by any means include all of the new
places you should see. Space doesn’t permit us to describe each one, but all are worth
seeing. Take a look at those others too; they're not hard to find I
John Collier appeared before the Planning Board at its meeting on February 28th
to request approval of his sketch plans for a new subdivision at Cypress Drive along the
Country Club's l8th fairway. It would contemplate only single family residences and would
elude a private road serving 10 lots. The average size of each lot would be 15,000
quare feet. The lots would be sold unimproved or with developer's houses already con
structed, depending on all the circumstances. The Board approved the sketch plans and
Collier will return to the Board later to seek preliminary approval of the project.
