The Commissioners held a work session with the Building Inspector and the Planninsr
Board prior to the regular September Board Meeting.
COMMISSIONERS At the recommendation of Commissioner Johnson, the Board decided to apply
MEET North Carolina Cash Management Trust. Interest rates are better
right now than the town is getting.
.p approval was granted to Wachovia Bank to erect a building as a subdivision
of the shopping center. Only the subdivision is approved. Actual building plans will need

Commissioner Shedd once again appealed to residents to refrain from placing trash on
the right-of-way. It should not be put there until arrangements have been made to pick it
up. This is done through the Town Hall or Waste Industries.
^ The Rescue answered five calls in August, the Fire Department one, the Police
Department I59 and ob citations were issued.
George Palkenberg retired as chairman of the Planning Board at the end of his term.
The Commissioners appointed Clyde I^nn the new chairman. A. C. Hall was appointed and sworn
in as a new member of the Planning Board and Harry Schlimper, Grant Roper and Godfrey
Zumbach were reappointed,
Rachel Mangum and Morgan Hammer were appointed to fill the vacancies on the Community
Appearance Commission, ^
Andy Tomey, Sd Philipson, Emily White and Aubrey Johnson were appointed to the Board
of Trustees of the Firemen's Local Relief Fund.
Mayor Hanan reported on steps being taken as a result of the meetings held with other
town and county officials concerning civil preparedness. He said that the mayors of the
towns on Bogue Banks will now make the decisions concerning evacuation of Bogue Banks in
dependent of County officials. They will have access to more current weather information
and will use the radio stations WMBL and WBTT6 as official broadcasters. In other words, if
