The first was in regard to the preparation of a Federally mandated ordinance regarding Flood Damage. Essentially it was a work session to tailor the recommended ordinance to fit Pine Knoll Shores. Commissioners will act on the COMMISSIONERS adoption of this ordinance when it has been prepared according to adjust- MEET ments made at this meeting. A special meeting will have to be held in order to meet the sutxnission deadline of April 1st. The second hearing was in regard to the proposed change in the zoning ordinance regarding building heights. The Planning Board had worked for months to come up with a criterion on which to base the height requirements and essentially establish the mean sea ^^el as the base from which to measure height. The various zones were then dealt with from Wfts basis. It was referred back to the Planning Board for further study based on obser vations made at the meeting. At the meeting of the board Commissioner Johnson reported that 90% of revenues had been collected and 54% of expenditures had been made to date in the fiscal year. He also reported that 95% of taxes had been collected and delinquent properties would be sold on April 13th. Commissioner Libby reported the budget was amended for increased expenses to be met by increased anticipated revenues. The latest draft of the Land Use Update is available for your perusal at the Town Hall. Please bear in mind that this is simply a draft, subject to cosmetic and technical changes. The North Carolina Department of Agriculture has notified the town that they will be spraying for gypsy moths between now and May 12th, Commissioner Shedd reported. The area affected is about six acres along the western end of Oakleaf Drive. The Town will be notified when the spraying will begin [when the eggs begin to hatch] and the police will warn residents through the loud speakers. This will give you opportunity to get your cars under cover or whatever you wish to do to prepare. More specific information about the TOWN OF PINE KNOLL SHORES, N.C.
