FROM THE AQUARIUM The Sea Turtle Stranding volunteer program has begun with many Pine Knoll Shores volunteers responding. Some will walk assigned sections of the beach in the early morning looking for turtle nests and others will be on call to go to the scene if a turtle has been found on the beach. Stuart May, Aquarium Coordinator, and Gayle Finer, Aquarium Assistant, are in charge of the program. The turtles will start nesting any day now and the hatchlings will emerge between 62 and 85 days later. If a nest is loc;ated, steps can be taken to help protect the hatchlings when they appear, so that as many as possible will make it to the ocean. The film and slide programs held at 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays will continue through May as well as the Friday "ON BOARD" cruises for which you must register. Many other interesting eveiits are coming up so watch for them. __________ oOo ---------- CALENDAR May 13 - Garden Club May 14 - FEMA Commissioner Libby 10:00 a.m. May 15 - Investment Group May 20 - Community Appearance 1:00 p.m. May 20 - Travel Group 1:30 p.m. May 23 - Maritime West 9:30 a.m. May 23 - Ocean Glen 1:00 p.m. May 23 - The Oceans 4:00 p.m. May 24 - Maritime Association 4:00 p.m. May 25 - Town Hall Closed - Memorial Day May 26 - Public Hearing Land Use Plan Update 2:00 p.m. r^y 26 - Public Hearing Land Use Plan Update 7:30 p.m. May 27 - Work Shop Coimiunity Appearance 7:00 p.m May 30 - Genesis 9:00 a.m. June 1 Planning Board 9:00 JUTiO ? - Board of Adjustment 9:00 a.m. June 3 - Conmimity Appearance 1:00 p.m. June 3 - Public Hearing Budget 1:30 p.m. June 9 - Town Board 2:00 p.m.
