PLANNING BOARD The Board reviewed the plat plan for the last three lots in Fairway Subdivision, making recommendations to the Commissioners. Some actions under study were postponed until an overall study of the zoning ordi nance is completed by the boards involved. An ordinance controlling the storage of gasoline and kerosene has been proposed and forwarded to the Town Attorney for comment. The Board did have recommendations concerning control of heights by establishing a method of determining grade. This will be presented to the Commissioners when the over-all study of the zoning ordinance reaches this subject. Studies of both right-of-way parking and removal of trees over two inches in dia meter were assigned. --------- oOo --------- WEST CARTERET BAND The West Carteret Band has been invited to perform during half time at the Peach Bowl on New Years' Day. The Boosters Association appealed to the town fOr a contri-^ bution to help make this trip possible. The Town cannot make this kind of contribution but some of you as individuals may be interested in doing so. The money is needed to help defray the cost of transportation, and also to provide funds for some who could not otherwise afford to go. Send your contribution to: Clayton White, 201 Pamlico Ave., Morehead City, 28557. Make out check to: West Carteret Band Boosters Association. oOo --------- JANUARY BIRTHDAYS If you have a birthday in January there may be fun in store for you. Diane Donovan is interested in getting the group together for a celebration. Call her at: 247-6409. Winter birthdays can be just as much fun as summer ones! --------- oOo --------- BUILDING AND ALTERATIONS NEED APPROVAL! In recent months there has been an increasing number of known violations of the Homeowner Associations' Restrictive Covenants and Town ordinances pertaining to lot preparation and construction. The Architectural Control Committees and the Community Appearance Commission wish to remind all property owners that committee approval both Town and As.sociation — must be obtained prior to construction or alteration whether it be a house, fence, deck, dock or any other structure. The regulations also require property owners to maintain the natural contours of the land, trees, ravines, etc. in as near their natural state as is compatible with good building and land use practices. Several recent violations of the covenants and town ordinances have resulted in penalties including stop work orders by the Town and payment for damages to the Associa tion. This is not the way the Committees would like to operate, but thp> covenants and ordinances, if they are to have meaning, must be enforced. We urge each of you to familiarize yourself with provisions of the ordinances and covenants before proceeding with construction or lot alteration so that we can maintain the high standards set by our community. Please feel free to contact any member of the appropriate committee if you have a question regarding provisions of the Restrictive Covenants or Town Ordinances. oOo ---------
