COMMISSIONERS MEET
The December meeting opened with the presentation of the 1988/89 audit from Margaret
Caruthers, Auditor. Ms. Caruthers made a few remarks concerning the condition of town
finances. She commended the Commissioners for increasing the undesignated fund equity
by $50,000 stating that such funds were needed in the event of a catastrophy such as Hugo.
•She also remarked on the fine record of tax collection which she t,hought was 99.99% but
which, she was informed, has actually become 100% since the audit!
Commissioner Johnson reported that to date 48% of revenues have been collected and
32% of expenditures made. Present year's taxes are 46% collected.
Commissioner Roderick reported that a contract with Waste Industries for collection
of trash at multi-family sites and commercial establishments is recommended. It provides
for twice a week at multi-family dwellings and once a week at commercial. Commercial can
contract with the town for more frequent pick-ups at their own expense. The contract was
approved.
Roderick also announced that a new dogwood tree, donated by the Appollo Computer Co.
in memory of Jack Greata, has been planted in the front of the building.
Commissioner John Shedd gave the Building Inspector's report. There were three new
residential permits, eleven miscellaneous permits, and one certificate of occupancy issued.
His reports on the Planning Board, Community Appearance Commission and Board of Ad
justment are covered on following pages.
