Another year of accomplishment for PINE KNOLL SHORES!
Let's start with the Shore Line. One of the most important things to happen was the
addition of an Assistant Editor for the Shore Line in the person of Bob Ruggiero. Bob
already has been putting out the whole issues of the newsletter and will be doing more
in 1990. We asked for help and he was good enough to answer the call! Welcome aboard/
Others carry on as before. Lola Council still edits the Our New Neighbors feature.
Last year 25 new neighbors were visited and written up by the same "old" neighbors: Yola
Hanan, Mary Doll, Jackie Davidian, Lib Johnson and even your editor. As usual, lots of
interesting and talented people moved here. Hope you enjoyed reading about them.
Contributors were Bob Herbst, Chuck Zaminer, Stephanie Goetzinger, Joe Henyecz, Chief
Crawford, Liz Britton and Bob Gallo. Organizations appointed their own contributors.
They all did a great job of keeping us infonned of their events.
Nell Crumley still types it up—between trips to Germany—and John Capps prints it
and sees that it gets to the Post Office—in record time last month. A nice Christmas
present to the town.
Lots of interesting things happened to the town at large that were reported in the
Shore Line. The town passed a surfing restriction ordinance and revised the zoning ordi
nance. Other passed ordinances controlled topping and pruning of trees on the ocean front,
set up the circumstances under which non-conforming docks can be repaired, and declared
Pine Knoll Shores a sea turtle sanctuary.
Recycling pick-up was brought right into the town and two new buildings were started
in the Pine Knoll Shopping Center.
Rescue Sguad members took the training for cardiac defibulation and new equipment
was installed in the ambulance.
Some offices in town became open during the year but they were quickly filled by new
people. Fred Fulcher became the new Building Inspector. Marty Kiel took over Civil
