Held at the PKS Town Hall, social hour is at 9:30 a.m. with a business neeting at 10:00 and following this, an interesting program by Jackie Dantone from "Sparrovj's Nest" in Newport, N. C. "Sparrow's Nest" is a Women's Crisis Center and shelter serving as a refuge for those qualifying individuals who are caught in a life crisis and need time and a temporary place to sort it out. Another facet of life in Carteret County that should interest everyone. See you there! The March meeting of the Garden Club was our annual Plant Auction. Mayor Hanan auctioned off many plants donated by club members and nurserymen. It was a "fun" meeting with guests joining in the bidding for some beautiful plants. Thanks go to Mayor Hanan and Yola for a successful event. Arbor Day was observed by our Club by dedicating 5 Bradford Pear trees and 8 Crape- Myrtles planted at the entrance to PKS Aquarium on Pine Knoll Boulevard. This project was possible by funds realized from our Geranium sale last year. President Pat Flinn thanked the to™ for their cooperation and recognized Lois Heffelfinger, Project Chair woman, and other Club members for their efforts in this project. Mayor Hanan accepted the plantings on behalf of the to\m. The April Garden Club meeting will be a Home and Garden tour to New Bern on Friday, April 6. We will car pool to New Bern and meet at the Sheraton for lunch. This Friday trip will be in lieu of our regular Wednesday meeting in April. A special announcement follows about our Geranium Sale. This year we have also added Caladiums, a shade-loving leafy plant. The monies made from this sale will be spent on beautification projects for the town.
