It was Primary voting day but that was held in the lobby. However, before the meeting was over the Commissioners had voted that when Town Board Meeting falls on Election Day in the future, the Board meeting will be changed to the Monday before the 2nd Tuesday. All Commissioners were present and gave their reports. Commissioner Blanchar(^ of Streets and Public Property reported that a retaining wall was being built near the entrance to the Town Hall from Pine Knoll Boulevard. The Wayne ^^leveland Memorial fountain in front of the Town Hall, which has ceased to function, can- ^Piot be repaired and a new one has been ordered. Town right-of-way mowing has begun. Police Commissioner Gibson reported that Officer Macklin is receiving training for Death Investigation. Police answered 150 calls. One major felony arrest, [a woman accused of shoplifting], was recorded. Rescue, Fire and Civil Preparedness Comnissioner Hasulak told us there were two fire calls and 9 rescue calls. He asked the commissioners to approve a service contract for two defibrillators to be used in the ambulance and in the 4-wheel drive vehicle. This was done. Also, Civil Preparedness Chairman Romaine is planning this year's program and has called an organizational meeting on May 24th, 2 p.m. Hasulak reminded everyone that the hurricane season starts on June 1st and the town will have a program to give out informa tion to town residents. One thing to be emphasized is that RE-ENTRY PERMITS WILL BE REQUIRED FOR PERSONS RETURNING AFTER THE STORM. IF YOU HAVE ONE, GET IT UPDATED AT THE TOWN HALL 1^. NEW ONES ARE AVAILABLE FOR THOSE WHO NEED THEM. If you wait until the storm hits the office may be closed and you'll be out of luck.
