To cut down a tree [other than dead or endangered] over two [2] inches in -diameter,
requires a permit from the Building Inspector.
This may sound like a complicated procedure, but actually it's very easy to get
permission.
After placing a call to the Building Inspector, he will respond quickly and review
your request.
In failing to get a permit you subject yourself to penalties that could have easily
been avoided.
Ch.21-3 any naturally occurring trees, shrubbery, grass, or other naturally occurring
vegetation which has been killed, damaged, destroyed or removed in violation of this
Chapter shall be restored or replaced within sixty [60] days of notice from the Building
Inspector. Each day after the sixty [60] days period that violator fails to perform
such restoration or replacement shall constitute a new and separate violation.
Keep in mind the above does NOT include the clearing of underbrush or vines from
your property.
Obtaining accurate information is very important to the police in carrying out their
duties. Recently there was some vandalism around town and one very alert resident happened
to see it in progress and jotted down the license number! This led to the apprehension
of the perpetrators. Chief Crawford wishes to thank that person. All of us can be help
ful to the police if we will simply carry along pencil and paper to jot down license
numbers when we are out walking or riding around town and observe suspicious behavior.
Lose your glasses? The office is holding two pairs waiting to be claimed. One
is a pair of clear glasses found on Loblolly Drive and the other, prescription dark
glasses found at the ocean park.

Don't forget the big get together planned for July 22 at 4:30 on the island south
of "The Bluffs" between markers green 7 and red 8. If you have any questions contact

friends, some snacks or sandwiches, liquid refreshment, whatever you enjoy. It's going
to be a fun time.
