COMMISSIONERS MEET
At the October meeting of the Town Board Commissioners were seated behind a new con
ference table, replete with name signs for each one. Very impressive and official-looking!
We are growing up!
Commissioner Blanchard reported that the Garden Club had donated azaleas for planting
around the Town Hall. He also reported that at the workshop held September 18th it was
decided that the present concrete street signs are still in good shape and would not be re
placed at this time.
Commissioner Gibson gave the police report. There were 113 calls answered, 225 house
checks. They made one arrest of a murder suspect wanted in Wake County. They also made one
arrest for breaking and entering.
Commissioner Hasulak reported 12 rescue calls, 1 fire call [brush fire] and Civil
^^preparedness working with the county on after storm recovery.
Finance Commissioner Johnson reported 32+% of revenues collected and 18+% expenditures
completed in the fiscal year so far. Earnings on investments was 7.9%. 29+% of taxes have
been collected.
Johnson also wished to inform residents that they do not need to notify the county or
the town of the change of zip code number coming up later this month.
Commissioner Roderick gave the Building Inspector's report. There were 1 residential
permit, 7 miscellaneous permits but no certificates of occupancy issued in September.
He further reported on the Planning Board. New member Richard Schultz along with
returning members Lois Jean O'Keefe, James Smith and Charles Zaminer were sworn in by Mayor
Hanan. Recommendations made to the commissioners concerning the sign ordinance changes were
accepted for a public hearing to be held at 1:30 p.m. November 13th. Recommendations that
preliminary plans for Bermuda Greens be accepted were approved by the Board.
