COMMISSIONERS MEET
The first order of business at the May meeting of the Town Board was
the appointment of Robert Gallo as Commissioner in charge of
Administration and Finance to fill the unexpired term of Aubrey Johnson.
Bob was sworn in by Mayor Hanan after the commissioners voted unanimously
to appoint him. All present welcomed him aboard. He comes well qualified
for the task, having retired after 3 0 years with American Can Co. as
Manager/Director of Computer Affairs and Finance to come to Pine Knoll
Shores.
Commissioner Blanchard, in his report, requested approval of the
contract for right-of-way mowing of Highway 58 for which the state will
reimburse the town $1900. He also requested approval of a one year
contract with Waste Industries for the coming fiscal year. At $6.65 per
location per month, this contract represents an increase of 6.1% in cost.
And finally, he requested approval of the contract for construction of a
new 4000 gallon gasoline tank necessary to meet environmental regulations.
Blanchard thanked the Garden Club for their efforts to beautify the
town and the town hall grounds. He has received some suggestions for a
town seal and will bring these forth when a workshop is scheduled. For
anyone interested in this project there is still time to get in on it.
SPRING CLEAN UP COLLECTION OF UNUSUAL ITEMS IS SET FOR MAY 30th.

fire calls in April. He requested approval of the new Rescue officers:
Captain, Teddy Wimberley and Assistant Captain, Max Hileman. Granted.
Three firemen have completed the 12 0 training bringing the total of
state level qualified firemen in Pine Knoll Shores to 9.
Hasulak then announced the HURRICANE AWARENESS PROGRAM to be held on
June 17 at 2:00 p.m. This meeting will give you the latest information on
