UNC BI-CENTENNIAL OBSERVANCE
In 1993, The University of North Carolina will be
celebrating 2 00 years as a publicly-funded university, the
first one in the U.S. to become operational (Georgia was the
first chartered, but did not start operating until 1801; UNC
started in 1793). Since something like this takes
considerable (!) planning, UNC is getting started. Somehow,
I (not an aumnus) became associated with this. The committee
would greatly appreciate any input it can get. If you are a
UNC graduate and would have any ideas, please call Jack
