This is creating a serious problem, and everyone's cooperation is needed. Please check your property and trim low overhanging branches and any other growth that prevents the right-of-way being mowed safely. Commissioner Gibson reported that for the month of June, the Police Department responded to 157 calls and 207 house checks. The new officer who replaced Dean Nelson was sworn in. His name is Stefan Hellersperk. He resides in Newport and is a former U. S. Marine. Commissioner Gibson read a letter from Mike Morgan, Director at Trinity Center, commending the professional handling and courteous manner that Officer Bob Hami'lton •exhibited when handling a call for assistance. We are all proud of our Police Department and this letter once again attests to their professional ism . Commissioner Hasulak reported that the Rescue Squad answered 8 calls and 1 transport. The Fire Department responded to 1 minor call at the Hoiiday Inn. Commissioner Hasulak also reported that the Civil Preparedness Meeting was well attended again this year. He reminds all residents to have their Emergency Re-entry Permits updated for 1991! There may not be time IF you need it on a weekend, holiday or the middle of the night. Mayor Hanan, Charles Romine and Commissioner Hasulak attended a County meeting where the lessons of the damage caused by Hurricane Hugo were dis cussed . Commissioner Gallo requested a motion to approve a change in the capital ordinance to increase capital costs by $30,000 to cover expenses caused by a leak in the gasoline tank that was contaminating the ground. He also predicted a short-fall of approximately $50,000. due to revenue decreases and expenses of $95,000. despite budget reductions. TOWN OF PINE KNOLL SHORES, N.C.
