Commissioner Rode r i c k coun-tEd t wo residential permits, Fourteen mis

the Planning Board will meet on December 4 at 2 p.m. due to the Christmas
holiday. He reported on the October 23 meeting oF the Planning Board and
again stressed the importance oF the return oF the Land Use Survey in a
timely manner. Mr. Roderick requested an Ordinance change to be passed,
as noted in the Following planning Board report.
Mayor Hanan called For a vote on the Vested Rights Ordinance, which
was seconded and passed.
Mayor Hanan is planning a workshop with the present and incoming Com
missioners, which will be open to the public. He thanked everyone who
participated in Green Bag Day and explained that DOT is to clean the
ditches. There will be seedlings oF various shrubs and trees destroyed by
this cleaning, and Mayor Hanan invited anyone interested in having any oF
these to take them up now as this is a good time oF year to transplant.
He also announced that Town Hall will be closed on Thanksgiving Day
and December 25, 26 and 27 For the Christmas Holidays. An answering
Machine is now installed at the Town Hall OFFice For messages when the
oFFice is closed.
The Christmas Parade will be December 7, starting at 1 p.m. at Town
Hall. The route is: Pine Knoll Boulevard to Arbortitae; Arborvitae to
58 and Mimosa; Mimosa to Loblolly to Mimosa; Mimosa to OakleaF; OakleaF
to Country Club parking lot turn around and back to Juniper; Juniper to
Cypress to Cedar; Cedar to OakleaF to Hawthorne; Hawthorne to Sycamore
to Beechwood; Beechwood to Mimosa.
The annual Open House For Pine Knoll Shores Town Hall will Follow the
Town Board Meeting December 12, 1991. This will be an excellent time to
thank the out-going Commissioners and welcome Mary Kanyha, Reese Musgrave.
and Richard Schultz, the newly elected Commissioners. Our gratitude to
Mayor Ken Hanan and Commissioners Evan Roderick and Gordon Gibson For jobs
well done!
Garbage pickup will be the Friday aFter Thanksgiving and on the regular
day aFter Christmas, but may be late in the day.
The meeting was adjourned to Executive Session. When the meeting was
resumed, the Board voted to settle with White Brothers For breach oF con
tract, and the meeting was then adjourned.
PLANNING BOARD
The Planning Board oF the Town oF Pine knoll Shores met Wednesday,
October 23, 1991.
Mayor Hanan administered the oath oF oFFice to Ed Bowman.
Building Inspector, Roy Brownlow, gave the inspection report For the
month oF September. He also requested Planning Board Members read
Section 21-7.9 in the Zoning Ordinance concerning "detached structures".
Inspector Brownlow stated that the wording is vague and a review oF this
section is needed.
Mayor Hanan introduced Karl Graetz, noted author and a specialist on
maritime Forests. Mr. Graetz presented his suggestions as to pruning and
tree removal. He had visited several sites beFore the meeting that had been
pruned. AFter much discussion, the Planning Board committee on ocean prun
ing recommended that the present ordinance is adequate when properly
