Page -4- and taught in a Montessori School in that area. They were as much as six years looking over plans of many developments along the coast. Pine Knoll Shores was the first place they looked and they never found another place . they liked as well. So when the house at McGinnis Point became available they grabbed it. Grace said they were not just looking for a house, they were looking for a community. It's easy to see why they chose this one. Now that they are here and most of their friends have visited and gone home, they hope to resume their art work [sketching and painting], do some traveling, and for Norman, spend more time on the golf course and sailing. MARY KORFF PINE KNOLL SHORES GARDEN CLUB President Joan Dawson presided at the monthly meeting of the garden club, held on November 13 at the Town Hall. Carl Bowen, of Bowen's Green houses, in Newport, using blooming plants, gave a program on the selection and care of poinsettias for Christmas. December will be a very busy month for club members. A rare holiday treat awaits those who plan to take the Christmas homes tour, being spon sored by the club. Ann Hitch, overall chairman, reminds townspeople that the tour will be on Wednesday, December 11, from 2 to 5 p.m. Each member is involved in decorating and hosting in one of the homes. The five PKS homes being shown on the tour are those of: Mr. and Mrs. George Zeller, 105 Magnolia Court; the Bruce Beldings' at 9 Fairway Court; the Richard Guilfoyle home at 164 Arborvitae Drive; Mr and Mrs. Sidney Johnson at 226 Oakleaf Drive; and Mr. and Mrs. George Hitch at 288 Oakleaf Drive. Moravian cookies and hot mulled cider will be served at the Hitches' home. Tickets are now available from any garden club member, for a donation of $5.00, or by calling Betty Stanton at 726-5945. It is requested that no spike heels be worn inside the homes. For the second year, the club will sponsor a Christmas tree in coopera tion with Hospice Festival of the Trees. The theme will be, "A Carolina Christmas". Among the state momentos used on the tree, will be raw cotton grown by member Yola Hanan in her backyard here in PKS. Again this year club members will be taking orders for luminaria candle kits to promote lighting up the town on Christmas Eve. Hall Haven will be lighted, as in years past, in memory of deceased PKS residents. Anyone contribute to lighting up Hall Haven or Brook Basin may by the following numbers. Kits of twelve candles and bags at $5.00 each, are available from any club member or by calling Mary Hudak at 247-2168 or Mary Haim at 247-6381. The Christmas Homes Tour will take the place of a December general meeting. LENORA ROBERSON PINE KNOLL SHORES WOMEN'S CLUB NEWS The Pine Knoll Shores Women's Club will hold their annual Christmas luncheon on Friday, December 13, at the Galley Stack Restaurant. Husbands are cordially invited to attend. The gathering will begin with a social at 11;30 a.m., followed by the meal at 12:15 p.m. All members interested in attending should contact Mrs. Marge Green prior to December 3. Due to the holiday season, the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Pine Knoll Shores Women's Club will take place on Friday, January 24 BETTY MILLIKEN
