NOVEMBER BOARD OF CCMUSSIO^IERS MEETING
PUBLIC HEARING
Following the public hearing on Thursday, November 10, the Board of
Commissioners voted to modify the Land Use Update Plan of 91-92 to allow
existing marinas to make modifications so long as the external bo\indaries
of the marina are not affected; sent the Ocean Setback measurement back
to the Planning board for further recommendations.
BEACH RENOURISHMENT PFWMTT
At the recommendation of the local CAMA official in the Morehead
office, PKS Commissioners rescinded the action voted at the October
meeting to apply for a major CAMA permit for the town's ocean front
nourishment because of the numerous complicated requirements for
permitting a large project. The Commissioners were advised that
individual permits are easier to obtain and can accommodate projects up
to one acre with the permit being valid for three years. As many as five
or six property owners can join in one permit.
SOUND CHANNEL DREDGING
Steps have been taken to apply for a N.C. Water Resources 20/80 grant
to dredge the channels connecting PKS and the intra-coastal waterway of
Bogue Sound. A contract bid of $11,500 was accepted from Mud Bucket
Dredging.
