DECEMBER BOARD OF CCMMISSIONERS MEETING
SPECIAL TOWN MEETING JANUARY 24. WATER
Growing concern about the quality and price of water provided by
Carolina Water Service led the Town to consider alternatives for a water
source. A committee was appointed to investigate the situation and at
the November Board of Commissioners meeting the committee was au
thorized to employ an engineering firm to investigate all the possibil
ities. Bids from three engineering firms were considered and the contract
was let to Colonial Engineering, Inc. This engineering firm has experi
ence with Carolina Water Service, having advised the Town of River Bend
in their water/sewer project. In order for the committee to share
information and possibilities with the citizens, the Board of Commission
ers will hold a special Town meeting on January 24, 1995, at 7:00 p.m. in
the Town Hall. All citizens are urged to attend. There will be an
opportunity for comments'-and questions.
AD VALOREM TAXES DUE
Beginning January 6, interest on unpaid ad valorem taxes will apply at
2% and increase 3/4% each month thereafter until paid. Citizens are
asked to be sure their vehicles are registered for Pine Knoll Shores even
if your mailing address is Atlantic Beach, Salter Path or Morehead City,
so that the right amount of tax is sent back to Pine Knoll Shores from
Se&e County, which collects vehicle tax now.
