Work is to begin shortly on the
update to the Land Use Plan for
Pine Knoll Shores. Dale Holland,
Holland Consulting Planners, Inc.

working with him on this project.
The Land Use Plan serves to guide
the development of a community by
addressing issues and adopting
policies that pertain to that par
ticular community. It is prepared
in accordance with requirements of
the N.C. Coastal Area Management
Act (CAMA).
Volunteers are needed and anyone
interested in serving and assisting
the town on this committee, please
call Town Hall, 247-4353.
VALVE INSTALLED
At the request of the Town and
Pine Knoll Association, DOT has
installed a gate valve on the drain

A town employee will be trained to
monitor and adjust the valve during
times of peak run-off. This will
be monitored by the State to see if
this source of pollution for the
sound and canal has an impact.

Dredging of the access channel
leading into PKS from Bogue Sound,
is in progress. Hopefully, it will
be completed before boating season
gets into full swing.

PINE KNOLL SHORES EMS #6S
PKS Squad #65 held its monthly
meeting on March 6, at 7:00 p.m. at
Town Hall. Bill Schmid and Wes Hill
(EMT Trainees) were welcomed as
guests.
There were 14 calls in February.
As summer season approaches with
more people visiting and on vaca
tion, our calls will increase. We
will be prepared!
Both ambulances are now equipped
and drivers no longer have to move
important equipment to the ambu
lance in service each day. This is
a result of applying and being
awarded the grant to enable us to
give the best care to patients.
A special recognition goes this
month for two of the Squad members,
Charlie and Patty Swetz, for giving
extra time for out of the county
transports.
EMS Week will be May 14-20th.
Keep this date in mind!
Thought for the month: "Laughter
can help you get well and stay
well."
