NEW TOWN CLERK
The Board of Commissioners has
designated Betty Carr as our new
Town Clerk. Betty knows our town
well, having served in the Town
Administrative Office as Deputy
Clerk for five years. Previous to
■'ng to Pine Knoll Shores, Betty
Executive Director of the
■ r of Commerce in Clinton, NC
for iC years. We are fortunate to
have her. Mary Lou Kay has been
promoted to the position as Deputy
Town Clerk. Our new office
assistant at the Town Hall is
Joanne Butler. Stop in and say
"hello" to her.
SUMMER GARBAGE PICKUP
As summer season begins, we are
"beefing up" the Town trash pickup
schedule. Beginning June 1, Waste
Industries will pick up garbage
twice a week, Monday and Thursday.
Recycling, which has been col
lected every two(2) weeks, will be
picked up every Thursday.
The following is taken from the
Pine Knoll Shores Code of Ordinan
ces regulating placing of trash on
Town rights-of-way.
"13-4.3 Placement of Garbage
anH Trash Containers. Garbage and
trash containers shall be placed on
the town rights-of-way for collec
tion. Garbage and trash not so
placed will not be collected. Con
tainers shall not be placed for
collection prior to twelve (12)
hours before scheduled collection
and shall be removed within twelve
(12) hours after collection.
13-4.4 Placement of Racks or
Enclosures. No person may place or
construct on the Town rights-of-way
any permanent or semi-permanent
wooden or other enclosure or rack
designed for the purpose of holding
garbage containers. Any suchg
enclosures or racks presently^
placed on or constructed on Town
street rights-of-way shall be
removed.
PKS EMS 65
PKS Squad #65 held its monthly
meeting May 1 at the Town Hall.
Plans for EMS Week, May 14-20, were
presented and discussed. May 20th,
1PM to 3PM at Brock Basin is the
date the residents of Pine Knoll
Shores were invited to meet squad
members, have blood pressure taken,
inspect ambulances, fire trucks,
four-wheel vehicles, meet the
firemen, and have refreshments
served by the Fire Auxiliary. They
also were asked to guess how many
pills were in a jar and to win a
nice prize presented by the Pine
Knoll Shores Women's Club.
Balloons, reflector tapes for
safety when walking at night and
important information was given to
attendees. 4
Saturday, May 13th, the EMS had"
members and ambulance standing by
at the "Mile of Hope" sandcastle
building contest.
Marion Walker and Peggy Price
completed a two day "Basic Trauma
Life Support (BTLS) Class at
Carteret Community College. They
passed and received their certifi
cation. We are proud of them for
their dedication to advance in
skills.
Pictures have been taken of the
Squad which will be displayed at
the Town Hall.
We had 13 EMS calls in April.
