COMMUNITY APPEARANCE COMMISSION The Community Appearance Commission would like to bring to your attention some recent comments expressed to them by Pine Knoll Shores residents. Remember, the committee is your representative body, and one of its purposes is to promote a community pride in appearance - a pride that we all • It is not always easy for individuals to make comments to friends and neighbors, so we decided to share these comments with you in a general way. If any of the following comments appear to apply to you, we would appreciate your consideration of them. We really owe a vote of thanks to the early leaders of our commi^ity for setting up strict and applicable ordinances and covenants during our Town's formative years, care and planning has been ij^strumental in making Pine Knoll Shores a special community (expressed by one of our earlier residents and by a newer resident), A number of people are affected by very bright lights that are left on all night on canal frontage that shine in windows across the way Are your lights too bright? Is it necessary to leave them on all night? - a neighborly consideration. All residents, old and new, should be aware of the restrictive regarding walking your dog off your property (leash required) and (poopeir scoopsT required) . it is important to be considerate of your neighbors' properties. Animals can be a comfort and joy to people and they are truly a part of many families, but this involves an accompanying responsibility. Canal lot owners really have two front yards. It's enjoyable to be able to view the pretty houses and plantings from the road and from across the canal. Remember, those owners who have two levels on the can^l, both are seen from across the canal. Other people are spp^sciative when bulky storage materials are kept to a minimum. Our town is a special place and if we all pull together with common goals, we'll keep it that way. CURBSIDE YASD-TRASH COLLECTION AND RIGHTS-OF-WAY MAINTENANCE a) The last Tuesday of each month. Waste Industries picks up and removes yard trash (yard waste consisting solely of vegetative matter resulting from landscape maintenance) from the single family residences and approved multi- family projects in the Town, Such items shall include limbs, debris, leaves, straw, clipped shrubbery,' bushes, grass and weed trimmings. b) Leaves, debris, straw, clippings or trimmings must be bagged, boxed or containerized. Limbs, shrtibbery or other long items must be securely tied in bundles no longer than four (4) feet in length and no larger than eighteen (18) inches in diameter. Each bag, box, container or bundle of yard waste must not exceed fifty (50) pounds in weight. c) To maintain a neat appearance of our Town, yard waste for pickup should not be placed on rights-of- way until the weekend before the monthly pickup. PKS GARDEN CLUB The PKS Garden Club spring luncheon and installation of _ officers was held fh Wednesday, June 14,//^ at the Dunes Club. Following the luncheon, Irene Doremus, Master Judge Emeritus, installed the following officers for 1995-1996: President, Lois Jean O'Keefe 1st Vice President, Clare Winslow 2nd Vice President, Judy Poit Recording Secretary, Yvette Bannen Corres.
