DO YOU KNOW HOW OUR COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ARE ELECTED? There will be an educational meeting to familiarize the voters of Pine Knoll Shores on how the County Officials are elected. PLACE: Town Hall Meeting Room DATE: Tuesday, June 18th TIME: 7:00 p.m. at the Library Bogue Banks Public Librat7, PKS Branch of Carteret County Public Library CALENDAR FOR lUNE OF SPECIAL NOTE; HELP! The Friends of Bogue Banks Library are in need of a dry storage place for books awaiting their next sale in early August. If anyone can assist, please call Dorothy Marks, President of the Friends (354-3740) or Susan Simpson, Librarian (728-2050). Between the Bookends will not meet during June, July, or August. Members are urged to read their favorite literature during the summer months for discussion when the group will resume meeting on Monday, September 9th, at 11:30 a.m. Members are encouraged to read "Shooting at Loons" and any other of author Margaret Maron's works. lUNE EVENTS FOR CHILDREN: Children's Summer Film series, Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m., June 13th: :Come a Tide" and "Dive to the Coral Reef"; June 20th: "Storms,""Corduroy," and "Watch the Stars Come out"; June 27th: "Seashore Surprises" and "Abel's Island." SUMMER READING PROGRAM; Registration begins Monday, June 24th, for the Monday, 10:30 a.m., Storytimes featuring special guests. The programs will be presented each Monday beginning July 1st and concluding July 29th. The children's reading reports will be due by 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 31st, with the awarding of certificates at the closing party on Monday, August 5th. PRE-SCHOOL STORYTIME. Mondays, 10:30 During the month of July the Pre-School Storytime is combined with the Summer Reading Program. The Pre-School Storytime will follow its usual program in June and August. EXHIBITS: The paintings in the auditorium are by Charles Sharpe, Instructor of Art at Trinity Center and President of the southern Watercolor Society. In the cabinets there is a display of wood art by Charles "Chuck" Zaminer of Pine Knoll Shores. NEW BOOKS AT BOGUE BANKS; New books to enjoy: "In Contempt" by Christopher Darden, "Blood Sport" by James B. Stewart, "Trail of Secrets" by Eileen Goudge, "In the Presence of the Enemy" by Elizabeth George, and "Absolute Power" by David Baldacci. For information, call the library 247-4660. Welcome New Residents ~~ Sheryl and Bill Woodbury recently moved into their home at 186 Loblolly Drive. They come from the Baltimore area. Bill, a geologist, worked for the Corps of Engineers for 19 years and most recently retired from the US Bureau of Mines. Sheryl was a ballet dancer. At one time she studied with George Ballanchine and has danced at Radio City Music Hall. Between them they have five children. Bill has three girls, two in Wilmington, NC and one in Baltimore. Sheryl has a boy in Burlington, NC and a girl in Los Angeles. They have three grandchildren; two boys ages 6 and 9 and one girl 18 months. Some years ago, they had a time-share. They traded for a week at the Whaler Inn and loved the area. They kept coming back looking for a place to retire. They bought a lot on
