Two vacuum cleaners have been purchased and are now on each ambulance to use after each run. We ordered a reeves stretcher for the four-wheel drive to use in case of any near- drowning. This vehicle is now equipped with EMS supplies. Squad met prior to "Bertha" to discuss preparation. Members were reminded to check their bags and replace any supplies missing. Please call Town Hall or Chief Wimberley if you have any questions or need additional information regarding transports. The squad answered 20 EMS calls and 1 Fire call in June, "Bertha" is gone, and we were fortunate in many ways. Prepare now to be prepared should another storm come our way. NORTH CAROLINA AQUARIUM THE AOUARIUM MAKES NEWS The Aquarium's 20th anniversary was recently recognized with a special anniversary AQUARIUMS tabloid insert in The Carteret News-Times. The publication included several feature stories, along with the Aquarium's July and August calendar of events. If you missed the anniversary publication, extra copies are available at the Aquarium. Another anniversary highlight is the 80- pound octopus perched on the roof above the Aquarium's main entrance. The heavy-duty vinyl, generator-inflated cephalopod will watch over the Aquarium until late July, when it will travel for exhibition at the Fort Fisher Aquarium and later to the Roanoke Island Aquarium. Visitor comments can be summed up in two words: "Cool!" and "Awesome!" If you find yourself traveling on one of the State ferries in the near future, keep your eyes open for the new large display 2
