Thank You Emergency Management — Medical Emergency Organization PKS Fire Department And our many, many volunteers Even after being visited by "Bertha" and "Fran // SEPTEMBER BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MEETING BEACH PRESERVATION Marvin Weisman spoke to the Board of Commissioners on behalf of a group of citizens that do not agree with the Beach Preservation Assn. and its request for a bond referendum for beach renourishment. The Town has agreed to do a mailing survey for input from the citizenry. Mr. Weisman asked that the group he represents be given the opportunity for input in the survey before it is mailed. WATER REPORT On August 29, 1996, in Carteret County Superior Court, Judge James E. Ragan , III ordered a summary judgement be granted in favor of the Town and the Board of Commissioners in both lawsuits filed by Carolina Water Service. He dismissed the cases with the costs to be taxed against the Plaintiff. The Declaratory Judgement that the Town filed against Carolina Water Service will be heard the week of September 16th. Commissioner Gallo stated that several options are being considered, such as a slightly higher offer for the water system or a 30% reduction in rates. In the meantime, the Town is in the process of designing its own water system. HURRICANE FRAN The costs for cleanup from Hurricane Fran have not been determined at this printing. However, the Town has been approved for reimbursement for the costs of cleanup from Hurricane Bertha.
