OCTOBER BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MEETING
WATER REPORT
The Declaratory Judgement filed by the Town to clarify whether or not residents are required
to get their water from Carolina Water Service, has been ruled in favor of the Town. Previous
lawsuits filed by Carolina Water Service and ruled in favor of the Town by the courts have
been appealed.
BEACH PRESERVATION
The Beach Preservation Survey was mailed to all Pine Knoll Shores property owners the
week of October 14th. The ballot must be returned to Town Hall by November 10th to be
counted in the survey. Results will be announced at the November 12th Board of
Commissioners meeting. The December "Shoreline" will also carry the results.
HURRICANE FRAN
Debris removal from the rights-of-way and C&D removal from the beaches, as a result of
Hurricane Fran, has been completed at a cost of $99,215. Pumping of the flooded areas in
the east end of Town has been completed at a cost of $44,370. Any residents having
problems with septic systems and drain fields should contact the Carteret County
Environmental Health Division.
SCHOOL AND HIGHWAY BONDS
The Board of Commissioners approved a Resolution supporting the passage of the State
Highway and School Construction Bonds that will be on the November 5th ballot. Use of the
highway and school bonds will not require an increase in taxes.
