Crime Prevention Tips
Pine Knoll Shoes Police Department
historical records indicate that the majority
of residential and vehicle break-ins occur
between September and April. Past data also
shows that most of these incidents could
have been prevented by taking some simple
precautionary measures. We recommend
that you follow the below listed crime
prevention tips:
• Keep your vehicle(s) locked at all
times and never leave the keys in a
vehicle.
• Don't leave personal items in
vehicles, i.e. wallets, purses, money,
guns, golf clubs, etc.
• When not at home, lock your doors
and windows and leave an inside or
outside light on.
• If you are going to be leaving town,
notify the police department. The
police will conduct routine checks of
your residence. Stop newspaper and
mail deliveries. An abundance of
newspapers and mail will indicate
that nobody is home.
• If you see what appears to be
suspicious person(s) or vehicle(s) in
your neighborhood, report it to the
police immediately. You can contact
the police 24 hours a day by calling
the Carteret County dispatcher at
504-4800.
Write down and retain important
descriptive data on your valuable
possessions (serial numbers, make,
model, etc.) If an item is stolen this
will assist in recovery.
If a break-in does occur, report it
immediately.
Pine Knoll Shores has a relatively low crime
rate. The goal of the police department is to
reduce crime to an even lower level. This
can be accomplished by following these few
simple precautionary measures. Let's be
proactive, not reactive,
