NOVEMBER BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MEETNG
ANNUAL AUDIT
Town Auditor Lee Carroll presented the annual audit and commended the Commissioners
on their stewardship of town funds. The audit was given an unqaulified status, the highest
possible. Auditor Carroll gave credit to the citizens for their prompt payment of taxes, and to
the staff for their assistance in maintaining accurate financial records.
BEACH PRESERVATION
The Beach Preservation Survey has been completed with 2,284 surveys mailed to property
owners and 1,436 (63%) returned. Of the ballots returned, there Were 887(62%) no votes,
524 (36%) yes votes, and 25 (2%) invalid ballots, not signed or marked. Ballots postmarked
after November 10 were not counted. Mayor Hasulak stated that the Board will work with the
County Commissioners and State Officials to get beach renourishment for the entire island.
WATER REPORT
The new president of Carolina Water Service will be meeting with Mayor Hasulak and
Commissioner Gallo in December to consider the sale of the water company to the town.
Perry Owens has been replaced in his position at Carolina Water service and the new officer
has to familiarize himself with the project.
