The Members of our PKS EMERGENCY MEDICAL SQUAD CMS WEEI\ MAT 18-24 APRIL BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MEETING SHONEY'S SUITES On the recommendation of the Planning Board, The Board of Commissioners approved plans for the construction of Shoney's Suites, a four-story hotel with 111 suites, to be located on the corner of Oakleaf Drive and Salter Path Road. The Inspections Department has a drawing and layout of this attractive facility should anyone wish to see it. 1997-98 BUDGET At the Work Session, following the regular meeting. Commissioner Gallo recommended to the Board of Commissioners that the tax rate for the Town be set at 16 cents per hundred. All requests from the different departments have been met and with a projected evaluation of $400,000,000, he felt the reduction of five cents would be fair to the citizens. The majority of money spent on damages and cleanup from the two hu'rricanes has been recovered and reserves are adequate. By reducing the tax rate, the Town's 1997-98 budget would be revenue neutral as planned. He also stated that he would like to see the county use the same philosophy. WATER REPORT A Public Hearing has been scheduled by the N.C. Utilities Commission on May 8, 1997 in Morehead City at 7:00 p.m. in Town Council Chambers, to hear customer testimony on a rate increase requested by Carolina Water Service. Enclosed is the copy of a letter stating the Town's position.
