EMS Squad #65 Pine Knoll Shores Rescue Squad #65 welcomed our new Chief, Ted Lindblad, at our July meeting. Ted succeeds Teddy Wimberley who served unselfishly as Squad Chief for six years. Squad #65 had the opportunity to welcome six new members and to recognize them and other members who recently passed various NC State EMS exams. These members include; Ambulance driver: Bill Schmid, AA; EMS-Basic: Maureen Danehy EMT-B, Michael Murray EMT- B; EMS-Defibrillation: Dave Finefrock EMT-D, Kathy Murray EMT-D, Marilyn Smetana EMT-D, Andy Smetana EMT-D, Trish Wallace EMT-D. Henry Bannen, of Beechwood Drive, is currently in training and anticipates joining the Squad in October. Members of the Squad welcome the interest of any resident of Pine Knoll Shores who might consider volunteering some of their time for this service. Please contact Chief Lindblad at 240-0580 or speak to any member of the Squad regarding your interest as new training classes will be starting up this fall. A new program of in-house training is being initiated on the third Monday of each month for members of the Squad and it includes an open invitation to members of the Fire Department. These sessions will review techniques, procedures, and information to keep all members up to speed on pre-hospital care and OSHA requirements. We are looking forward to a closer working relationship with the Fire Department and welcome their participation in these sessions. Squad #65 responded to 16 emergency calls in July. submitted by: Marilyn Smetana from the PKS Police Department During the last month we have had several items (purses, wallets, etc.) stolen from vehicles parked at Memorial Park. The majority of these thefts have occurred because people have left their vehicles unlocked. We strongly recommend that you lock your vehicle at all times. Also, never leave valuable items in your vehicle. If you must leave valuable items in your vehicle, lock them in your trunk or put them in an area where they are not visible. You are only enticing the thief by leaving items in the open. Should you notice a suspicious vehicle(s) or person(s), get a good description (license plate number, color, make, etc.) and report it immediately to the police. Pine Knoll Shores Women's Club A program on the Blackbeard Shipwreck Project will be presented by Dave Moore of the North Carolina Maritime Museum at the PKS Women's Club opening meeting of the fall season Friday, Sept. 26, at Town Hall. Membership in the club is open to all women living in Pine Knoll Shores, and guests are welcome. * Annual dues are $10 and may be paid by check, payable to PKS Women's Club.
