Yard Waste Pidcuo
There has been an increasing number of complaints from residents to Town Hall concerning Yard Waste, stating
reasons such as unsightliness, material not picked up because it wasn't prepared properly, or material put out
and left for an extended period of time. Yard Waste must be placed in a bag, bundle or container and placed
curbside for collection. Limbs or other long items must not exceed four (4) feet in length or six (6) inches in
diameter or fifty (50) pounds in weight. Limbs must be stacked butt end to the street and placed curbside for
collection. Yard Waste collection is the last Tuesday of each month, place material curbside by 7:00 a.m. The
Town pays the contractor (Waste Industries) for yard waste collection service on a per hour basis for the actual
time required to perform this service. Therefore, we ask that you prepare your yard waste as instructed. NO
EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE. If Waste Industries does not pick up your yard waste due to incorrect
preparation - The resident is tlien responsible for removing the yard waste and is expected to do so
in a timely manner. Residents can dispose of leaves, pine straw, pine cones, grass trimmings and small tree
limbs by taking them to the Newport transfer station on Hibbs Road.
