For the 18 years before that, they lived in Highland, NY, near Poughkeepsie. Gail is originally from Highland and John is from East Islip, Long Island, NY. Gail was the Director of Religious Education at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and School in Raleigh. John retired from IBM and entered UNC Law School so he could start his second career. After passing the Bar, he worked for a law office in Cary but he really wanted to set up a practice of his own. Gail and John had been coming to the Morehead City and Beaufort areas during all of the 18 years they lived in Cary saying that this where they wanted to live. While Gail was visiting the beach with a girl friend, she decided to look at houses and she found the perfect beach house on Mimosa Blvd. Then, three months ago, they left their jobs, sold their large house in Cary and relocated permanently to Pine Knoll Shores. John has set up a general law practice at 408 Arendell Street and Gail has settled into enjoying life in PKS. They have three children. Their daughter, Kim, a widow, lives in Crossmore, NC, near the Tennessee border, with her three children, Jessica (11), Alex (9) and Aaron (7). Their son, Jeff)^ is single and he lives in Cary, NC. He is a member of a group off our who just opened a business called "Mind Works Multi-media Corporation." Gail and John have joined the BBCC and they are both taking golf lessons. Gail is learning about the area from the Newcomer's Club and from the people they are meeting at St. Egberts Church in Morehead City. She has written poetry and would like to find the time to write more. John has become associated with the Hispanic Ministry and is interested in finding ways to help people. Submitted by: Judy Polt Patti and Grant Colbert moved into their new home at 131 Juniper Road in July 2001. They researched the entire area, spent time here in Pine Knoll Shores, loved it and decided to purchase their new home here. Native North Carolinians, they moved here from Hickory along with their boxer, Winston. Winston has become rather mellow now that he has retired to PKS. The Colberts have lived in North Carolina their entire lives with the^ exception of a year spent in Destin, Florida, They are presently semi-retired; Patti is working from home, as an independent distributor for Starlight International, selling health and wellness products and Grant still owns Grantco Inc., a used car dealership in Hickory. The Colbert have two sons: Trey, 21, who is in the auto business in Hickory and Kyle, 19, who is a freshman at ECU and very good with computers. Grant bikes down Rt. 58 towards Emerald Isle almost everyday so you've probably passed him at some time. Along with biking he is also interested in fishing and hopes to acquire a 23'-25' boat soon. They both love to travel and have been to quite a few European countries. Patti loves cooking and interior decorating which is quite evident in their lovely home. They have restored and decorated a number of houses. Grant thinks they may have actually moved about twenty times. Let's hope they stay in Pine Knoll Shores a while, especially sinc^ they both love it here at the beach. Submitted by; Susan Christman Another daughter, Kathy, and her husband are both
