January Board of Commissioners Meeting
i Mayor Musgrave recognized Greg Premo, Director of the Trinity Center, and expressed the Town's
appreciation for donations made to the Fire and Police Departments. Mr. Premo expressed his gratitude
to the Town for the important services they provide to the Trinity Center, as well as, to the entire town.
i Bids were received for the parking expansion at Town Hall. Work should begin soon and be completed by
the end of February.
i The Police Chief recognized former Commissioner Ted Goetzinger for his work with the Police Department.
Mr. Goetzinger also received recognition from the National Association of Chiefs of Police and the American
Police Hall of Fame with a medal of appreciation presented by Chief Muhlig.
i A resolution and an agreement were passed regarding Inspection of Bridges on Municipal Street Systems,
which are required by law to be inspected on a cycle, not to exceed two years.
i A resolution passed adopting the Carteret County Hazard Mitigation Plan, which will later be revised to meet
the Town's specific needs. Senate Bill 300 states that local government must have an approved hazard
mitigation plan in order to receive public assistance funds (effective for state-declared disasters after August
1, 2002).
i There has been no response at this time to a letter expressing the Town's desire to purchase Carolina
Water. Carolina Water has been given a deadline of January 15, 2002 to respond to the Town's offer.
i Sand pumping has resumed after overcoming difficulties with tires from an artificial reef, which stalled
dredging equipment and later problems with sea turtles that have remained in local waters longer than
normal because of warmer temperatures.

To show the Town's appreciation of volunteers to the
EMS Squad and Fire Department, all EMS and Fire
volunteers will now receive an annual stipend of $50.
EMS volunteers, scheduled and answering an emergency
'[Garden Club / Women's Club . ’ call, will receive an additional $10 per call. Fire
fLibrary/Meet Your New Neighbors volunteers who respond to an accident call will receive
