Knowing your strengths and limitations can determine which activities you are best able to perform as a volunteer. The Town of Pine Knoll Shores has many volunteer organizations, which provide assistance and guidance to Its community, free of charge! All too often, we overlook the dedication and commitment of our volunteers. If the United States were required to pay all of its volunteers, the financial outcome would be Immeasurable. This country is dependent upon our volunteers. Note; There are more than one million fire fighters in the United States, of which approximately 750,000 are volunteers. There are more than 155,000 nationally registered Emergency Medical Technicians, of which two thirds are volunteers. The demands on our volunteers are ever increasing. With changing life styles and the economy, people do not have the "free time" we once took for granted. Your Fire & EMS Department members are to be commended and recognized for all they do. The Town provides the equipment and supplies needed for the Fire & EMS Department. No fundraisers are necessary. The Town also provides many benefits in appreciation and to insure the health and safety of our volunteers. Not only does the Town recognize our fire and emergency medical volunteers, but also state agencies administer many protective incentives for volunteers ancjA their families. The Town has taken full advantage of the benefits available for our volunteers from state associations and volunteer insurance companies. Fire Personnel and EMS personnel receive all benefits listed.
