In efforts to show their appreciation and relieve some of the demands, the Town hired an Emergency Service Director and a Firefighter/EMT. All volunteers take direction from the Emergency Services Director. These two appointments are in no way a means to reduce the need for volunteers, only improve on their effectiveness with added resources. It was once stated that a department needed more equipment to get the job done. All the equipment in the world IS useless without dedicated volunteers to operate it. People make an organization great not equipment. We are most fortunate to have such dedicated, loyal, caring and trustworthy people in the' Pine Knoll Shores Fire & EMS Department. I and we appreciate each one! Submitted By: Donald Melby Emergency Services Director
