Reese Musgrave passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2002. Reese served as Mayor of Pine Knoll Shores from 1997 - 2002 and as Commissioner from 1991 - 2002. Mayor Musgrave will be sorrily missed. i There was an Emergency Meeting of the Board of Commissioners on April 8, 2002. The Board discussed responsibilities normally handled by former Mayor Musgrave. Mayor Pro Tem Gallo and Commissioners accepted responsibilities according to departmental responsibility. i The regular scheduled meeting of April 9, 2002 was cancelled and rescheduled to coincide with the regular work session meeting on April 23, 2002. The Board agreed that former Mayor Musgrave would have wanted the renourishment celebration to continue (see box above for details). i There was a Public Information Meeting on April 16, 2002. Robert F. Gallo was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Mayor and James 0. Hunter was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Mayor Pro Tem. The Oath of Office was administered to Mayor Gallo and Mayor Pro Tem Hunter. A comprehensive presentation was made on the 2002-2003 economic pressures facing the Town. It appears that the tax rate for fiscal year 2002-2003 will increase.
