Only one person had questions about pilings, boat lifts and davits. The amendment later passed by a 4 to 1 vote with Commissioner LaBrie opposed. A vote was taken on hiring an Office Assis tant II and this passed. This will be a part-time position (20 hours a week), will require so phisticated computer skills and will be super vised by the mayor. A vote was taken on exercising the option to buy the Kirkman property adjacent to the Public Safety Building and this passed. This commercial site measures 1.1 acres and will be purchased for $255,000. At the last assess ment, it was valued at $287,000 and more than likely has increased since then. A small portion of the property, on Pine Knoll Boule vard, can be used to provide beach parking for the Ocean Terrace public access. Director Melby mentioned that since the inauguration of the County Paramedics have been stationed at the Public Safety Building three lives have been saved due to the prompt adminstration of medications.
